About Shyteek
Shyteek is a dynamic actress and award-winning scholar dedicated to bold, transformative storytelling across stage and screen. A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) with a BFA in Acting through the Posse Foundation, she is known for her commanding performances in classical and contemporary works including The Amen Corner, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Half God of Rainfall, A Winter’s Tale, and Measure for Measure. Her screen work includes leading roles in the independent films The Holy F*ck, Runaway Getaway, and Between The Cracks.
She began her formal artistic training at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City before continuing her conservatory training at CalArts. There, she studied acting, voice, speech, and movement with a rigorous faculty of working professionals and developed a multidisciplinary practice grounded in physical theater, vocal precision, and embodied storytelling. Her movement training includes African, jazz, contemporary, ballet, tap, and Gaga, and she brings additional strengths in stage combat, mime, and dance to her performance work.
On stage, Shyteek has portrayed complex, emotionally layered characters such as Sister Rice in The Amen Corner, Henrietta Iscariot in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Hermione in A Winter’s Tale, and Isabella in Measure for Measure.
She also served as Assistant Director for Is God Is, expanding her artistic voice beyond performance and into leadership and collaborative development. Her regional credits include performances at The Little Flower Theater in The Late Wedding and August: Osage County. In film and television, Shyteek has led multiple independent productions, bringing depth and nuance to contemporary narratives. Her work has been recognized by several festivals, including the Santa Barbara International ShortsFest, Indiependent Shorts Award, LGBTQ+ Phoenix Shorts, and IndiX Film Fest.
A versatile performer, Shyteek is proficient in multiple dialects including Standard British, Brooklyn/NY, Southern, Multicultural London English, and Puerto Rican, and has conversational Mandarin and beginner Spanish language skills. As a Posse Scholar and Lin-Manuel Miranda Fellow, she continues to merge artistry with advocacy, leadership, and academic excellence. In addition to performing, Shyteek is passionate about developing new work, arts leadership, and creating spaces that amplify underrepresented voices. She remains committed to storytelling that bridges myth and realism, challenges audiences, and centers cultural truth.
